Water acclimatisation courses for children aged 3-7
No new swimming lessons for adults or children are being scheduled or put on sale at the moment. We will let you know as soon as we can hold courses again.
We will reschedule any booked courses that have been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. All course participants will be contacted by phone.
Aim of water acclimatisation:
- We want to develop positive associations with water.
- Tolerating water on the face
- Diving / sliding (without swallowing)
- Gliding (with face under water)
- Jumping with and without floats
- Discovering the properties of water (buoyancy and drag)
- How does my body feel in the water?
Key principles:
The above points are essential for building confidence and developing an initial swimming technique. Children are encouraged – and not forced – to take part in each activity, allowing them to have positive experiences and build their confidence in all areas of life. An accompanying person must go into the water with you.
